Woman sues husband over private photos his alleged lover uploaded on FB

A woman has filed charges against her own husband for uploading on Facebook her private photos taken when they were chatting online, GMA News has reported on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old wife said her husband, who works as a seaman, became jealous and accused her of infidelity; an allegation she vehemently denied.

The marital row resulted into the separation of the couple, but the unnamed wife, who is also a mother, was shocked to discover that some of the private photos her husband took during their online chat were uploaded on the social media account of another woman.

Worse, the owner of the Facebook account where her pictures were published turned out to be her husband’s alleged new lover.

The wife said she came to learn about the scandalous episode after neighbors alerted her about the photos.

“Nag-akyatan po yung mga tagarito sa amin, sabi ‘yung mga picture ko nasa FB raw po,” the woman told Emil Sumangil of GMA’s 24 Oras.

(They all came here to tell me about my pictures on FB.)

“Nakakahiya, hindi po ako makalabas. Lagi na lang po ako nasa loob ng bahay,” the victim said in tears.

(It’s embarrassing, I can’t go out anymore. I’ve been keeping myself inside the house.)

She added she has long accepted whatever happened to their marriage, but could not believe her estranged husband could do such things to her. She repeatedly pleaded for him to remove the photos, but the man supposedly refused and even threatened to upload more pictures.

The wife had since filed a complaint with the authorities and her case is now under investigation by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group who found out that the photos can no longer be accessed.

However, copies of the pictures the wife managed to print will be used as evidence in the case.

According to the PNP’s Women and Children Protection Service, the suspect could be slapped with photo and video voyeurism, domestic violence and internet blackmail charges under the existing laws.

Let this be a warning regarding similar incidents of indecent postings.
